Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of communications and information technology, with a delegation from the Federation of Industries in the German state of Bavaria. They focused on attracting more German investments to the sector and strengthening joint efforts in outsourcing and building digital capabilities for youth. This meeting aligns with the government's commitment to enhancing cooperation with international partners and deepening economic relations, particularly with the Federal Republic of Germany, in the fields of communications and information technology. The meeting took place at the General Office of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the New Administrative Capital.
During an extended meeting, Dr. Talaat highlighted the strong presence of German companies in Egypt's ICT sector. He emphasized the success of Egyptian outsourcing centers, staffed by skilled professionals, in exporting digital services globally. Dr. Talaat noted the diverse German investments in Egypt, ranging from call centers to centers providing digital, design, and value-added services. He expressed a keen interest in strengthening Egyptian-German cooperation in the ICT field.
The Minister highlighted that
Egypt's communications and information technology sector boasts a robust
foundation of highly skilled young professionals, distinguished by their
multilingual abilities. He emphasized the government's commitment to providing
cutting-edge training programs to equip young Egyptians for the outsourcing
industry, aligning with the demands of global corporations. Talaat expressed
his eagerness to foster collaborative efforts in establishing outsourcing
centers in Egypt for German companies, facilitating the export of digital
services and enabling Egyptian professionals to work within German
organizations.
He further outlined the nation's
dedication to embracing artificial intelligence technologies. He highlighted
the initiatives of the Applied Innovation Center, which focuses on developing
technological solutions to address societal challenges in areas such as
healthcare and water resource management. The goal, he stated, is to train 500,000
individuals this fiscal year in diverse technological disciplines, including
specialized areas like cybersecurity. Furthermore, the training programs aim to
extend beyond traditional IT specialists to encompass professionals from other
fields, such as doctors, lawyers, and accountants.
During the meeting, Minister
Talaat extended an invitation to German companies to visit Egypt and gain
firsthand insights into the country's dynamic communications and information
technology sector.
The German delegation commended
the expertise of Egyptian cadres in the communications and information
technology sector. They highlighted that Germany has approximately 500-600 IT
companies facing challenges in finding qualified personnel, presenting a
significant opportunity for Egyptian professionals to fill this gap.
The delegation emphasized that
the Bavarian economy is driven by small and medium-sized enterprises. They also
noted that the Arab-German Friendship Association serves as a platform for
public and private sector collaboration on joint projects.
It is worth noting that that Bavaria is a leading German state in industrial production and the second wealthiest, boasting a GDP exceeding 700 billion euros. This two-day visit follows the October visit of the Bavarian Prime Minister to Egypt, accompanied by a delegation of private sector representatives and major Bavarian companies. The previous visit focused on deepening cooperation between Egyptian and Bavarian companies, particularly in priority sectors for the Egyptian government, such as information technology and artificial intelligence.
