Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, highlighted the strategic significance of the expedited integration of new gas wells from the tenth phase of the West Delta Deep Marine development into the national natural gas grid, as a key component of the Ministry’s strategy to augment Egypt’s natural gas production.
He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the work teams at Rashid Petroleum and Burullus Gas, and their international partners, Shell and Petronas.
These statements were made during the General Assembly
meetings convened to discuss and approve the revised investment budget for
fiscal year 2024-2025 and the proposed budget for fiscal year 2025-2026.
The Minister praised the company’s management, teams, and
partners for prioritizing safety, leading to a secure work environment and
positive safety records. He emphasized the need for ongoing safety awareness.
The Minister also acknowledged investor confidence in the West Delta Deep
Marine area and commended the use of 4D seismic technology, which will reduce
exploration risks and improve deep-water gas discovery, supporting the
Ministry’s production goals.

initiatives in Beheira Governorate, covering education, women's empowerment,
research, and quality of life, which align with the petroleum sector's social
responsibility goals. He expressed his desire to visit these projects and see their
positive impact.
Dalia El-Gabry, Chairperson of Shell Egypt, highlighted the
significant gas potential remaining in the West Nile Delta Deep Water region.
She stated that studies, assessments, and analyses are ongoing to leverage
these opportunities, particularly the upcoming 4D seismic survey. She praised
the Phase 10 gas production project's success in overcoming challenges, noting
its positive production and safety performance.
El-Gabry also announced that they are working to expedite Phase
11, with initial production targeted for June, to boost domestic output. She
mentioned Shell's plans to accelerate the development of the promising West
Mina natural gas discovery in Northeast Amreya, a major Mediterranean gas
production project.
Engineer Hany Esmat, Chairman of Petronas Egypt, affirmed Petronas' confidence in the West Nile Delta Deep Water region's potential, expressing gratitude for Engineer Karim Badawi's support in overcoming challenges and accelerating Phases 10 and 11.
