To advance strategic sectors through technological collaboration, the Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) and Tanmia Petroleum Company have entered into an MoU. This agreement will leverage space applications to develop sophisticated monitoring and early warning mechanisms for petroleum and mineral resource facilities.
The memorandum was signed at the Egyptian Space Agency's headquarters by Professor Sherif Sedky, CEO of EGSA, and Engineer Moustafa Amer, Chairman and Managing Director of Tanmia Petroleum Company.
The Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA), a public economic
authority, develops and localizes space science and technology, leveraging its
advanced data analysis capabilities to support vital sectors in Egypt. Tanmia
Petroleum Company, a leading national provider of aerial technical support to
the petroleum sector, aims to enhance safety and security at petroleum and
mineral facilities through this partnership.
The memorandum of understanding establishes a framework for
collaborative development of innovative technologies to improve operational
efficiency within the petroleum and mineral wealth sector. This includes:
Utilizing remote sensing to detect potential leaks in
production lines.
Developing smart systems for early detection of theft from
production lines.
Monitoring Mineral Wealth Authority mines for leaks and
illegal operations.
Professor Sherif Sedky emphasized that this collaboration
marks a significant advancement in employing space technology for Egypt's
economic growth. He noted that utilizing space data will strengthen the
monitoring of critical infrastructure and ensure the highest standards of
safety and sustainability.
Engineer Mostafa Amer expressed Tanmia Petroleum Company's
commitment to leveraging the Egyptian Space Agency's expertise to enhance
safety protocols within the petroleum sector, ultimately reducing risks and
optimizing operational processes.
