During his visit to the 36th Sahara International Agriculture Exhibition, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk highlighted the government's commitment to localizing modern technology and manufacturing agricultural equipment in Egypt.
Farouk emphasized that local production boosts the national economy, creates jobs, and reduces reliance on foreign currency. The Minister inspected the PRIME project pavilion, which focuses on improving the marketing capabilities of small-scale farmers. This initiative is a joint effort between Egypt and Italy's Agricultural Development Fund.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Qersh, the project
manager, stated that the project aims to achieve sustainability for small
farmers. The Minister of Agriculture inspected agricultural equipment and
machinery for planting and harvesting, innovated by project beneficiaries in
collaboration with research institutions. This equipment is manufactured
locally with 100% Egyptian components to serve small-scale farmers.
The Minister also reviewed
project products designed to enhance small farmers' marketing capabilities.
These include drying systems and dried agricultural products that increase
product value and promote development in rural areas.

pavilion of the agricultural extension sector. He reviewed publications and
bulletins aimed at raising farmers' awareness and providing technical advice.
During the Minister's visit to the General Union of Horticultural Producers and Exporters, he reviewed new devices for palm pollination and red palm weevil control, a threat to Egypt's palm and date industry. Given Egypt's global leadership in date production, the Minister directed the local manufacturing of these devices to meet the growing demand.
