Egypt's food exports continued to grow in the final week of 2024, with Sudan and Saudi Arabia emerging as the top importers of Egyptian agricultural products. According to the latest report from the National Authority for Food Safety, a total of 2,401 export permits were issued for agricultural products during this period.
Tomatoes once again dominated Egypt's vegetable exports, with 10,000 tons shipped. Beans and sweet potatoes followed closely, with 8,000 tons and 7,000 tons exported, respectively.
Citrus fruits maintained their
position as the top fruit export, with 55,000 tons shipped. Strawberries and
dates rounded out the top three, with 7,000 tons and 5,000 tons exported,
respectively.
While Egypt's exports flourished, the country also imported significant quantities of food products, primarily wheat, broad beans, various oils, and soybeans. Russia remained the largest exporter to Egypt, followed by Romania, Australia, and the United States.
