Minister of Public Business Sector Engineer Mohamed Shimi held a meeting today Wednesday to review the progress of the national project to modernize the spinning and weaving industry. The meeting was attended by Major General Essam Galal, Chairman of the National Company for General Contracting and Supplies, and other officials.
The focus of the meeting was on
the development of the industrial citadel in Al-Baida dyeing. The project
involves the construction of six integrated factories for spinning, weaving,
fabric preparation, dyeing, and tailoring, covering a total area of 337,000
square meters. A power station is also being built as part of the project.
Shimi expressed satisfaction with
the progress made so far and emphasized the importance of completing the
project on schedule to boost Egypt's textile industry. The project is expected
to create new jobs and contribute to the country's economic growth.
The meeting was attended by Dr.
Ahmed Shaker, the executive managing director of the Holding Company for
Cotton, Spinning, and Weaving; Rasha Omar, the assistant minister for project
development; Engineer Mohamed Al-Khadraoui, the managing director of Egypt
Spinning and Dyeing Company in Kafr El Dawar; and representatives of Al-Raed
Engineering Consultancy Office.
The Minister emphasized the importance of strict adherence to project timelines, daily and on-site monitoring of progress, round-the-clock efforts to complete the new factories and initiate operations as planned, prioritizing worker training to enhance efficiency and prepare them for modern machinery, and highlighting the significance of this development project.
He noted that the ministry places great value on the implementation of this national initiative to modernize the spinning and weaving industry. This aligns with the broader government strategy to support domestic industries and prioritize their growth. The spinning and weaving sector is a cornerstone of the national economy, making its development a strategic imperative.
