Victor Thibo, a Danish golfer, has been crowned champion of the 2024 Egypt International Men's Golf Championship, held at the Cascades Golf Club in Soma Bay, Hurghada. Thibo secured the title, etching his name into the illustrious history of the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament in the Middle East, first held in 1921. The Danish golfer finished the tournament with a score of 218 strokes over three rounds, two strokes over par.
Denmark's Magnus Frederiksson finished second, four strokes behind the leader, with a score of six-over-par. His compatriot, Matthias Ostergaard, placed third at eleven-over-par.
Tunisian player Bahaa Boulkmine
finished fourth at thirteen-over-par, followed by Englishman Max Hopkins at
sixteen-over-par. Egypt's national team player, Dean Naim, also scored
sixteen-over-par but lost the fifth-place prize to Hopkins due to a worse back
nine.
In the second-level competition,
Yosry Fouad claimed first place, followed by Tarek Ashry in second and Galal
El-Hamamsy in third.
Following the competition, a closing ceremony and awards distribution were held. In attendance were Engineer Omar Hisham Talaat Moustafa, President of the Golf Federation; Dr. Ashraf Al-Begermy, Head of the Sports Sector at the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Professor Mohamed Atallah representing Soma Bay; Engineer Mohamed Anwar, Vice President of the Golf Federation; and Amr Al-Shafei, CEO of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi Egypt. These distinguished guests presented awards to the first-place winners.
