Russian energy giant Gazprom has dismissed the latest round of US sanctions as ineffective, stating they will not disrupt its operations. The company condemned these sanctions as "unjustified, illegitimate, and a violation of free market principles."
In a statement, Gazprom emphasized that it has been proactively preparing for potential sanctions for the past two years. Having already faced unilateral sanctions from various countries since 2022, the company has adapted its operations to mitigate the impact of these restrictions.
On Friday, the Biden
administration unveiled the most comprehensive sanctions package to date
against Russia, specifically targeting its oil and gas revenue. This move aims
to exert pressure on Moscow to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict
in Ukraine.
Russian insurance company Ingosstrakh, also included in the sanctions list, has declared that its operations remain unaffected and that it continues to fulfill all customer obligations.
