Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib, held an expanded meeting with Mr. Eric Chevalier, the French Ambassador in Cairo, and several officials from Airbus Helicopters. The meeting focused on a proposed project to manufacture, assemble, and maintain a comprehensive aviation system in Egypt to bolster the tourism sector.
The Minister stated Egypt's desire to leverage global expertise to develop its aviation sector. He emphasized that the project would generate new jobs and help establish Egypt as a regional aviation hub in the Middle East and Africa.
El Khatib emphasized that the project has the backing of key
government bodies, including the Ministries of Industry, Civil Aviation, and
Military Production, along with several Egyptian companies. He noted that this
cross-sector collaboration will be instrumental in the project's success and
the realization of its objectives.
He further stressed that the Ministry prioritizes supporting
strategic industries that facilitate technology transfer and boost export
rates. Al-Khatib added that Egypt possesses significant potential to develop
its aviation sector, enabling it to compete effectively in regional and global
markets.
French Ambassador to Cairo, Eric Chevalier, affirmed
France's dedication to strengthening economic ties with Egypt, particularly
within the aviation sector. He emphasized that French companies, with Airbus at
the forefront, recognize the Egyptian market as a significant opportunity for
technology transfer and the promotion of local production.
Airbus Helicopters officials outlined the company's three-pronged strategy: developing the aviation industrial base, providing advanced training and simulation programs, and supporting local manufacturing of aircraft and components. They emphasized their commitment to transferring modern technology to Egypt to enhance its competitive edge.
