Dr. Mahmoud Essmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, received the Italian Ambassador to Cairo, Michele Quaroni, at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between Egypt and Italy in the electricity sector, particularly in the field of renewable energy, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the electricity interconnection project between the two countries.
The meeting focused on accelerating the Electricity Interconnection Project as Minister Essmat emphasized the need to expedite the implementation of the Egyptian-Italian electricity interconnection project, while working to increase the contribution of Italian companies to electricity projects in Egypt. M mechanisms to support cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy were discussed, as well as utilizing clean energy in the electricity interconnection project.
The Minister explained that a large portion of the
electrical equipment for the Egyptian-Saudi electricity interconnection project
comes from Italy, and emphasized commitment to the timeline for supplying this
equipment. He affirmed the continued cooperation with the Italian side to
attract more Italian companies to invest in Egypt, especially in the field of
clean energy.
The Italian Ambassador praised the achievements of the Egyptian electricity sector, emphasizing his country's continued support for the electricity interconnection project and encouraging Italian investments in Egypt.
