Minister of Communications discusses enhancing digital cooperation in Barcelona

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, held a series of meetings with leaders of global companies specializing in communications and information technology, on the sidelines of his participation in the Mobile World Congress MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. The meeting was attended by Mr. Zhou Bing, CEO of ZTE Egypt.

The Minister discussed with Mr. Zhou Bing, CEO of ZTE Egypt, its future plans in Egypt, including strengthening digital infrastructure and building digital capabilities. Progress in establishing two training laboratories at the National Telecommunications Institute was reviewed, as well as the company's efforts to start local manufacturing of its products in Egypt, in accordance with the memoranda of understanding signed last September. The company's plans to establish a research and development center in Egypt to serve its projects in Africa were also discussed.

Minister Talaat met with Mr. Robert Eberg, CEO of Sigma Technology, to discuss its plans to expand in Egypt, and to take advantage of Egypt's competitive advantages in the field of outsourcing.

Dr. Amr Talaat also met Mr. Helmut Reisinger, CEO of Palo Alto Networks for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, to discuss cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and building digital capabilities in this field.

Helmut Reisinger praised the Egyptian competencies and their experiences in the field of communications and information technology, expressing his aspiration to expand the company's business volume in Egypt by relying on Egyptian cadres to provide digital services to the company's customers in North Africa.

:The meetings were attended by Engineer Raafat Hendy, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technological Infrastructure Development and Digital Transformation, Engineer Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Authority (ITIDA), Engineer Mohamed Nasr, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, Engineer Sherine El-Gendy, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Strategy and Implementation, and Engineer Mahmoud Badawy, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Digital Transformation Affairs, and Professor Samah Aziz, Supervisor of the Central Department of International Relations at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
