Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with Mr. Cedric Cremers, President of Shell Global Integrated Gas Activities, to discuss efforts to increase natural gas production from the company's operating areas in Egypt and enhance regional cooperation in the field of energy.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed Shell's efforts to develop gas resources from the deep West Nile Delta areas, especially phases 10 and 11, were reviewed.
The Minister stressed the importance of accelerating the
placement of new wells on the production map to meet local market needs and
reduce imports. The development of the (West Mina) discovery in the North East
Amreya area in the Mediterranean was discussed.
Engineer Karim Badawy, also highlighted the cooperation in
the field of regional integration to develop gas resources from the Cypriot
Aphrodite field, with Chevron and Shell, and the signing of the agreement in
Cairo recently during the EGYPS 2025 conference, stressing the continued
cooperation of Egypt with Cyprus and international companies in this regard.
Minister Badawy pointed out the opportunities available to increase Shell's investments in new areas, in light of the investment opportunities offered by the Ministry through the Egypt Exploration and Production Digital Portal EUG.
They discussed the importance of integrated work in the
energy sector, enhancing the participation of renewable energy, and electrical
interconnection with Saudi Arabia, to reduce the energy import bill. During the
meeting, they reviewed the existing partnership between the two sides in the
Idku liquefied natural gas complex on the Mediterranean Sea, and the cooperation
in the areas of energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and carbon
reduction.
Cedric Cremers, the President of Shell expressed his
satisfaction with the positive results achieved in Egypt and affirmed the company's
commitment to expanding its business and achieving its ambitious goals. He stated
that the year 2025 will witness a rise in the production of natural gas at
distinguished rates.
Dalia El-Gabry, President of Shell Egypt, announced that 2025 will see a substantial rise in natural gas production. This is driven by the company's progress on the tenth and eleventh phases of its deep West Delta gas production expansion projects. She also highlighted ongoing development of the "West Mina" discovery in the North East Amreya area of the Mediterranean.
Additionally, discussions during the meeting covered the existing partnership in the Idku liquefied natural gas complex, and cooperation in energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and carbon reduction.
