Electricity Minister, TMG Holding discuss electricity distribution cooperation

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Hisham Talaat Moustafa, CEO and Managing Director of Talaat Moustafa Group Holding, held discussions regarding cooperation in the electricity and renewable energy sector. Their conversation focused on a strategic plan aimed at maintaining high service standards, ensuring reliable electrical supply, reducing losses, combating electricity theft, and improving distribution network efficiency.

To enhance subsidiary company performance and expand electricity distribution for new urban developments, Engineer Gaber Desouky, Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, Dr. Mohamed Moussa, Chairman of the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency, and Engineer Hossam Afifi, Chairman of North Cairo Electricity Distribution Company, held a meeting. They discussed joint work and cooperation proposals aimed at leveraging the private sector's administrative, technical, technological, and financial capabilities.

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat stated, 'We are collaborating with our partners to enhance service levels and ensure sustainability. The private sector is a key partner, and we are committed to maintaining high-quality electrical services for consumers.'

During the meeting, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat discussed cooperation and the company's successful electricity sector partnerships. Proposals were presented to expand electricity distribution, establish unified working standards for sustainability, rationalize consumption, increase renewable energy reliance, reduce commercial losses, and combat low-voltage electricity theft. These initiatives, utilizing smart meters, modern systems, and enhanced customer service, aim to improve energy management and efficiency, especially in residential and commercial sectors, and to implement solar energy for public lighting.

Dr. Esmat stressed the importance of the private sector as a partner for success, recognizing their technological, expert, and financial strengths. He stated that the ministry is dedicated to utilizing these capabilities in various electricity-related domains, particularly from companies with a demonstrated history of success. The ministry is actively expanding the licensing of private companies for electricity distribution in residential projects and taking steps to facilitate private sector investment and engagement in numerous projects, all aimed at achieving quality in all electrical services.

He also emphasized the ministry and its subsidiaries' initiatives to ensure electrical supply stability and continuity, stabilize the unified grid, increase reliance on renewable energy, minimize fuel consumption, and enhance operational efficiency. He added that the state has provided all necessary support to enable participation and operation within the framework of the sustainable development plan.
