Tesla announced plans to introduce a six-passenger Model Y variant in China by late 2025. To meet anticipated demand, the company has instructed its Shanghai factory to ramp up Model Y production by at least 10%. The Model Y's popularity in China is evident, with over 200,000 units sold in the first half of 2024 alone.
August 2024 marked a
record-breaking month for Tesla's Chinese sales, driven by strong demand in
smaller cities. Despite a 37% increase from July, sales in August 2024 fell
short of the previous year's peak of 64,694 units.
