Alexandria Refractories exports 20% of its production globally

Engineer Mohamed Shimy, Minister of Public Business Sector, continued his field visits to monitor the progress of work in the affiliated factories and companies, as well as the status of projects. The Minister conducted an inspection at the Alexandria Ceramics Company, a subsidiary of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries.

At the beginning of the visit, Engineer Mohamed Shimy held a meeting with the company's executives. During the meeting, he reviewed the company's activities in ceramics and refractory production, performance indicators, production and export rates, its diverse products that enter various industries, as well as its contribution to the presidential initiative "Decent Life."  He also discussed the future vision of the company and investment opportunities. The meeting was attended by Engineer Mohamed El-Saadawi, the Executive Managing Director of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Gawad, the Managing Director of the Alexandria Ceramics Company.

Shimy conducted a factory tour, inspecting the production lines and manufacturing processes for various products, including moulded refractories (aluminium silicate, high alumina, and insulating), unmoulded refractories (grogs, dry and liquid monoliths), calcined and activated kaolin, in addition to the design, implementation and maintenance of industrial furnaces and workshops.

The minister reviewed the availability of raw materials required for production, emphasized the need to adhere to periodic maintenance programs on their scheduled dates, and to utilize available capacities to increase production, develop marketing policies, expand in the local market, and increase exports. He also met the employees, commending their hard work and encouraging them to exert more effort and work.

It is worth noting that the Alexandria Ceramics Company is one of the oldest companies in the field of refractories and ceramics manufacturing in the Middle East, exporting about 20% of its production to a number of Arab, European, and Asian countries.
