Egypt aims to boost agriculture with UAE investment

Egyptian Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk met with Emirati Minister of Climate Change and Environment Amina Al Shamsi on the sidelines of the World Food Summit in Abu Dhabi. The two ministers discussed opportunities to enhance agricultural investment cooperation between Egypt and the UAE.

The meeting aimed to implement directives from both countries' leaders to facilitate investment procedures and create a favorable investment climate, aligning with the strategic partnership between Egypt and the UAE.

During the meeting, Farouk praised the Emirati investments in Egypt across all sectors, especially agriculture. He highlighted the deep historical relations between the two nations.

He proposed increasing agricultural investments, inviting UAE investors to Egypt, and collaborating on agricultural research, studies, and export-oriented manufacturing, particularly in the date and agricultural produce sectors. Egypt, being a global leader in date production, offers significant potential for cooperation in maximizing export and manufacturing benefits.

Farouk also mentioned the establishment of the world's largest palm farm in the Toshka region and emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange, increased agricultural trade, and cooperation across various agricultural fields. He highlighted Egypt's efforts to create an investor-friendly environment.

Al Shamsi welcomed Farouk's visit and expressed interest in increasing UAE investments in Egypt, particularly in food security, within the framework of the quadrilateral strategy involving Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Iraq. She highlighted the UAE's expertise in date production, palm cultivation, and value-added chains, referencing the Khalifa International Date Palm Award.

Both ministers agreed on the importance of removing obstacles for investors and Emirati citizens, encouraging investments in various agricultural fields.
