Egyptian Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk met with Emirati Minister of Climate Change and Environment Amina Al Shamsi on the sidelines of the World Food Summit in Abu Dhabi. The two ministers discussed opportunities to enhance agricultural investment cooperation between Egypt and the UAE.
The meeting aimed to implement directives from both countries' leaders to facilitate investment procedures and create a favorable investment climate, aligning with the strategic partnership between Egypt and the UAE.
During the meeting, Farouk
praised the Emirati investments in Egypt across all sectors, especially
agriculture. He highlighted the deep historical relations between the two
nations.
He proposed increasing
agricultural investments, inviting UAE investors to Egypt, and collaborating on
agricultural research, studies, and export-oriented manufacturing, particularly
in the date and agricultural produce sectors. Egypt, being a global leader in
date production, offers significant potential for cooperation in maximizing
export and manufacturing benefits.
Farouk also mentioned the
establishment of the world's largest palm farm in the Toshka region and
emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange, increased agricultural trade,
and cooperation across various agricultural fields. He highlighted Egypt's
efforts to create an investor-friendly environment.
Al Shamsi welcomed Farouk's visit
and expressed interest in increasing UAE investments in Egypt, particularly in
food security, within the framework of the quadrilateral strategy involving
Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Iraq. She highlighted the UAE's expertise in date
production, palm cultivation, and value-added chains, referencing the Khalifa
International Date Palm Award.
Both ministers agreed on the importance of removing obstacles for investors and Emirati citizens, encouraging investments in various agricultural fields.
