New Valley sees significant growth in solar energy projects

Dr. Mahmoud Essmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Major General Mohamed Al-Zamlut, Governor of New Valley, met at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. They discussed the latest developments in implementing renewable energy projects, focusing on expanding the use of solar power plants to provide the necessary electricity for all sectors within the governorate, including development, agricultural manufacturing, and improving electricity services for citizens. This included discussions on enhancing the electrical grid and ensuring reliable power supply.

Attended by Deputy Minister Engineer Sabah Mashaly, the meeting reviewed the progress of various projects aimed at strengthening the electricity network. This included ensuring power supply to new reclamation areas, reducing technical and commercial losses, and establishing transformer stations in El Kharga, Paris, and Farafra. The installation of smart meters in Abu Tartur was also discussed. These initiatives align with the state's sustainable development plan, which includes developing new urban communities and expanding agricultural manufacturing. The meeting explored ways to support the sector in expanding solar power generation, leveraging the governorate's abundant sunshine to maximize returns.

Dr. Essmat emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to improving electricity services and supporting development across Egypt, particularly in the New Valley Governorate. This includes ensuring reliable power supply for strategic projects and aligning with the governorate's sustainable development plan. The Minister highlighted the importance of optimizing resource utilization and maximizing economic returns to encourage investment. He stressed the need to transition to renewable energy sources, emphasizing the use of photovoltaic systems in government buildings, homes, and agricultural and industrial sectors. He also encouraged the active participation of the private sector in renewable energy projects.

For his part, the Governor of New expressed his appreciation for the ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. He acknowledged the ministry's support for development efforts in the governorate, particularly in expanding and strengthening the electricity network.  Emphasizing the governorate's commitment to sustainable development, he highlighted the importance of partnering with the private sector to leverage its natural resources, such as abundant year-round sunshine, for the development of new solar power plants.
